This page has been created to let the world know how much I love Rubik's puzzles. They are a great time waster, and a good way to impress others.
Here are a few of the puzzles that I can solve with ease:

In order, the cube, missing link, orb, magic, and umm... oh I don't know its name...

O.K., maybe the last one isn't a Rubik's puzzle, but it still falls into the category of fun puzzles I like to solve.

Favorite impression story:
I was at work close to the lunch hour, in the lobby (in a downtown MN company) with a few other people. I grabbed my Rubik's cube, and started to solve it. While in the process, more people filed into the lobby, to catch the elevator down to grab some lunch. They saw me working on the Rubik's cube and joined the few people that were already watching me. I was close to solving it, and the receptionist broke the concentrating silence with "Jeff! This is just plain wrong!" I had no idea what she was talking about... I was almost done solving the cube... what was wrong about it? Finally she continued, "You are impressing the wrong people here... We are all too old for you!" Hmm... I looked around, noticing that no male people were in the group that was watching me solve this thing. She continued, "besides, were are all married too..." I replied, "I guess I better watch where I solve this next time." and gave a big grin. It was a funny moment to remember.

Now if you want a real challenge, here is the beast of Rubik's cubes - the Rubik's Ultimate.  My sophomore year at Calvin College, the guys on my dorm floor chipped in and got this for me.  Little did they know that it would only take me two days to solve it the first time.  Now I can usually get it within an hour. However, there is a point of no return for me on this puzzle. If the cube is solved except for the front-bottom edge, which has the two pieces surrounding the middle flipped, I have to mess it all up and start over, hoping that it'll "solve itself".

One great donation to my collection was the Rubik's cube key chain.  This novelty piece eluded my hands for the longest time, until a charming person named Sarah Larson found one in a junk drawer and donated it to my collection.  She is too shy for a world-wide picture "thank-you", so this paragraph will have to suffice.  Now just a few things remain before I consider my collection complete.

Another donation to my collection was the Rubik's magic(original - not the orange & yellow ones that they are selling now...) given to me by Matt Wilkinson.  He only had one clause to his donation... that I was able to tell him how to solve it first.  It's harder than you think to write down directions for someone, but he got it solved, and my collection is coming closer to completion.

Things that I am looking for:
I'm always game for a new challenge. I'm looking for a few items that seem difficult to find for a good price (or even at all). Let me know if you have, or can find one or all of these items:

  • The Rubik's barrel puzzle (if you happen to know what I'm talking about)
  • The Rubik's magic puzzle that has 10 "links" instead of 8 - I've got the original and one with 12 "links" (Thanks to Alan Kalf for going to Hungary and picking this up for me!) - but I believe there is still one out there that I don't have yet...

Do you have one of these? Let me know where I can get it...

A great place to look for Rubik's puzzles is the Rubik's website (www.rubiks.com). Great place to order a Christmas or birthday present for that puzzle hound!
